CDX Scholarship Application
Helping More Students Access Driver Education.
CDX offers scholarship opportunities for eligible low-income students and families. Scholarships are awarded through a lottery-style selection process, with priority consideration for high school seniors preparing for graduation and greater independence.

Required Before Class: Get Your Permit Started
Before your teen can begin driving lessons, they must have a Washington State instruction permit process started through the Department of Licensing.
Steps to Complete:

Go to dol.wa.gov and create or log in to a License eXpress account.

Select “Pre-apply for your first driver license or instruction permit.”

Complete the application and get your teen’s DLN/WDL number.

Email the DLN/WDL to info@completedrivingexp.com at least 10 days before class starts.

After CDX submits the permit waiver, you’ll receive confirmation and can complete the permit process through the DOL.
Important:
A DLN is not required to enroll, but it is required before the permit waiver can be submitted. Students must be 15 years old for CDX to submit the waiver. Late DLN submission may delay permit eligibility.

Program Timeline
Classroom instruction is 30 hours over 4–12 weeks. Driving lessons are scheduled over 4–6 months. Observation includes 1 required hour of backseat learning.
Testing Information
One knowledge exam attempt is included in the teen programs. The skills exam is not included and must be scheduled separately.

Small Class Availability
Classes are intentionally kept small to provide personalized attention, stronger learning outcomes, and a supportive environment. Early registration is recommended.
Required Parent Night
A 1.5-hour Parent Night is required before class begins. A parent or guardian must attend so families understand program expectations, timelines, Washington State driving requirements, and how to support their teen at home. Students cannot begin the program until Parent Night is completed.
Permit & DLN Information
Students do not need a DLN to enroll, but the DLN must be submitted to CDX at least 10 days before class starts. Permit waivers are submitted 10 days before class start, per DOL policy. A welcome email is sent 2 weeks before class begins.

CDX provides patient, individualized support for students with anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum, processing differences, learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and other unique learning needs. Instruction is adapted to the student because no two drivers learn the same way.
