CDX was opened on June 19th 2021 (Juneteenth) because we saw there was a need for a community driving school. CDX is a family owned, woman owned, black owned community and customer focused Driving School and business. Our vision is to make being a licensed driver a reality for all who wish to drive legally and safely in the state of Washington. Our mission is to provide all students with the skills, tools, instruction and education to make safe decisions and drive safely on the roadway. We aim to provide learning in a friendly manner and environment that meets the needs of each students' learning style. To recognize and understand each students' strengths and weaknesses and assist in approving upon each students' weaknesses and fears.
With an outstanding knowledge of the local area, great training, and a wealth of experience, our instructors can support you through each and every step of this exciting new adventure. We'll take things at your own pace and design a lesson program especially for you. Whether you're looking to pass in a flash, or you'd rather take your time, we can guarantee you won't be disappointed in what we have to offer.

We'll work with you to understand your objectives and offer steady progress towards your goal. Team Members
Tara DuBois is the founder and owner of Complete Driving Experience LLC (CDX), one of Washington’s most trusted and inclusive driving schools. With over 20 years of experience in training, education, and community leadership, Tara has dedicated her career to helping people of all ages and backgrounds gain the confidence, knowledge, and independence to drive safely.
As a Certified Master Trainer and Master Examiner with the Department of Licensing, Tara brings exceptional expertise and compassion to every program she designs. She is also the first driving instructor in Washington certified in “ADHD Behind the Wheel” training, ensuring students with diverse learning needs receive patient, effective, and personalized instruction.
Tara founded CDX to create a school that truly cares — one that meets students where they are and helps them succeed, regardless of their challenges or circumstances. Under her leadership, CDX has become known for its inclusive approach, state-of-the-art training tools, and community partnerships that connect students to scholarships and supportive resources.
Her impact has been recognized across Washington. Tara and her team have received multiple awards, including the Black-Owned Business Excellence Award, the BECU Bridge for Billions Pitch Contest, and the Intentionalist “Community Over Competition” Award.
Tara also leads the CDX Scholarship & Community Foundation, a nonprofit providing life-skills education, mentorship, and scholarships for youth and adults.
When she’s not training new drivers, Tara is a passionate community speaker, wife of 18 years, grandmother of four, and an advocate for building safer roads and stronger communities — one driver at a time.
Richard is a seasoned cement finisher with more than 20 years of experience in the trade. He previously served as an instructor for Local 528 Cement Masons and Plasterers Apprenticeship Program for three years and now teaches in the PACT Program at Seattle Community College’s Wood Technology Center. When he’s not teaching or working on projects, Richard enjoys fishing, playing pool, traveling, and spending time with his four grandkids.
Mikale is a Tacoma native who keeps the CDX office running smoothly with his friendly attitude and dedication to helping students and families. He loves music, spending time with family, and being part of a team that helps people reach their goals. Mikale will receive his instructor license in April and is excited to take his passion for service from behind the desk to behind the wheel.
